The best Amazon Prime Day deals

Black Friday in July is here! So far, some of the best deals are Amazon devices—the Kindle (now $49.99 vs. $79.99), Fire (now $49.99 vs. $79.99), Dot (now $34.99 vs. 49.99), and the Echo ($89.99 vs. $179.99). According to Amazon, Echo is the top-selling deal so far. (EBay is competing with a Google Home and Chromecast video bundle for $99.99, or about 40% off.) Also check out the up to 50% off deals on Prime clothing, especially if you've starting back-to-school shopping for kids. Other deals to check out: $129 ($50 off) for the Bose SoundLink Mini II and $500 for a Sony 55-inch 4k TV.

For more updates on the best markdowns offered during Prime Day, check sites like TheWirecutter.com; CNET; and Slickdeals.net/amazon-prime-day. Go straight to the deals at Amazon.com/PrimeDay.

Also download the Amazon app and watch the "upcoming deals" tab. Set up notifications to remind you when to pounce! Keep in mind that "lightning deals" are good for a limited time and can sell out in minutes. "Spotlight deals" are more likely to stick around all day because the company has stockpiled the item just for the sale, according to Amazon.

If you've got an Alexa-enabled device, ask about Prime Day deals. Alexa's is offering hundreds of exclusive deals—and you get $10 off your first purchase. And if you pay with your Amazon credit card you can get an additional 20% off.

And don't forget to compare prices before you buy anything! Just because it's a Prime Day deal doesn't mean you can't find it cheaper elsewhere. Be sure to check eBay, Walmart, Jet, Costco, Target, and Google.com/shopping.
